"We didn't start this war. This is Putin's war." You had AMPLE amount of time to vote him out or force him out through protest and keep hammering away at it.

BUUUUT The Russian people didn't care enough about anything so they let Putin do whatever he wanted. Now they are suffering for it as they rightly should be.

  2. Amanda Croft says:

I don't think most people are intentionally punishing Russian restaurants. They probably just picked a different restaurant. A slight influence, sure, but enough to make a difference. You're probably only going to one restaurant in a day and there are so many options, I'm not sure it's an entirely conscious thing

  3. Hoodoo Texas says:

Normal behavior in a war and we are at war. Change your entertainment theme to Ukraine an you will be fine…. I'd go to a Ukrainian restaurant. Put the blame on Putin for your restaurant's troubles. I don't want anything Russian for entertainment right now. Besides, Ukraine invented Borscht anyways.

  4. Mik Pikulya says:

It’s amazing how little you know that Russian troll farms are not the only sources of Putin propaganda work to destroy western democracy. There are way too many pro-Putin activists here in the US, who are coming here through marriage, work, study, tourism and illegally. Their reason for leaving Russia is not because they don’t like it. Just the opposite. They remain loyal to Russia while living in America. In fact, those who become American citizens never give up their Russian citizenship. They become duel-citizens.
All Russian cultural centers and organizations they create here are directly sponsored by the Kremlin. All of them. Their goal is the spread “Russian Mir” here and everywhere in the West. There are many Maria Butinas here, but only few got caught like this one

  5. S Chin says:

You should ask them whether they support putin's actions though. Depending on their answer you may still not want to frequent their businesses for the same reason you boycott businesses with racist and anti-lgbtq owners.

  6. Антар says:

In the horrifying photos from Bucha, there is a woman with a red manicure. Her name is Irina. Back on February 23, she was a client of the make-up artist Anastasia, who recognized her by her manicure. Here is what the girl remembers about her:

“I immediately felt that this photo hurt me and could not understand why. Irina went to me for makeup lessons for herself. The last one was the day before the war…

Irina was jumping for joy, because for the first time in her life she had her own cosmetics, which we bought with her. Every time at work she sat and practiced our lessons as diligently as no one else. And when she came again, she told how her makeup was appreciated by new fans and how great she feels now.

She just wanted to live. How many more of my acquaintances, clients, Buchans must die for the world to come to its senses and punish Russia?"

  7. Антар says:

Trevor Noah, as a Ukrainian, I am very sorry that you support the Russians in their war to destroy Ukraine. Do you like Russian culture? Look at the footage from Bucha – that's their culture. Ordinary people are not to blame? Is Putin alone to blame? Is only Putin kills and rapes in Ukraine? Putin is supported by 85% of Russians in their war. They know everything, they see everything, and they rejoice, or they don't care, when our women and children are killed. You love Tchaikovsky and restaurants with Russian cuisine, but you just can’t understand that after that car rallies with Russian flags and the letters Z on cars come. You don't understand that their culture is an element of their war against civilization. You start trading, help develop their economy, and after that they come to foreign countries, and bring death, grief and poverty. I am very disappointed in you, Trevor.

  8. Sergey Belonozhko says:

Another issue in this video is that some russian restaurants stand ASIDE the war, not AGAINST it. It is super easy to show they do not support Putin and his war. You know, something with russian warship or Putin himself(just as an example). And some businesses do this and express a genuine support for Ukrainian people and show their position against the war. But some don't. Probably because there's still a lot of russians supporting Putin and probably they make a significant share of the client base. It's sitting on two chairs. Uncomfortable, but profitable.

  9. Sergey Belonozhko says:

I cannot fully agree to the narrative of this video. It was shocking to me, but there's lot of russian people in US who support Putin and his ideas. And these people don't have a propaganda excuse, here they have access to all the possible information, but still they support and some even admire this dictator. Did you know there's a russian neighborhood in Brooklyn, Brighton Beach. I don't know if they hide this nowadays, but previously if you talk to people over there, it feels like Putin's fan club.
It might be hard to understand, what people really think about the situation, so instead of general questions, ask "What do you think about Putin". And if you hear anything but "has to be sentenced to …", you know….

  10. Billyboy says:

As funny as this, it's kinda sad really. I feel for these restaurant owners, they're decent people (funny too) just trying to make a living and with what the pandemic did to their business as well, I'm saddened.

  11. J DMMG says:

Let's have empathy for all the Russians (in Russia and abroad) suffering under the Russian dictator and war criminal Poo💩tin as well as for the Ukrainians who are fighting for freedom and democracy in their country. Slava Ukraini and down with that Russian sociopath dictator Putler and his enablers.

  12. Ruslan says:

You know, this is the point as well why russians are being hated in Ukraine so much – their lie: borshch & "Chicken in Kiev" – since when those native Ukrainian dishes became a part of russian restaurants menu ? ) They all finally get what they truly deserve – karma, you know.
