~Early 1980s I used to live in an apartment building behind the Indra shopping mall where I taught English too. I went back a few years a go and found that my old apartment building had been torn down. Pratunam has changed a lot in the past 40 yrs
Pratunam was a hub of entertainment and the Pratunam market turn into a shopping mall.
I've been to Pantip a few times, always had to dodge the porn video touts just inside the entrance. Also remember the Indira hotel in the 90's my wife used to go shopping in Pratunam and I could blissfully drink coffee in a small coffee shop whilst she shopped.

I lived in apartments across from Pantip plaza early 90s.. Still remember tuk tuk fare from Patpong .. Si sib bhat..

It's where I lived in my childhood, exactly the location of currently Baiyok building 2 when it wasn't there yet. The Baiyok building 1 was already nearby. I remember the area was surrounded by 25+ luxurious malls it its most prosperous heyday.
Great part of Bangkok ! Airport link, close to malls, markets love it. Always stay Petchaburi soi sip King Phet. Walk to Dusit Zoo used to be one of my favourites. Off the main roads its actually quite peaceful .👍👍

Excellent video, looking forward to watching the rest. Pratunam was the first real experience I had of walking around the city back in the late 90s. I remember the overwhelming combination of heat, humidity, car exhaust pollution and extremely well worn concrete everywhere.
Pratunam looks sad with people, looks even sadder without them. Hope this place is back on its feet again since you made this video.
Mrs used to work pt at the Amari watergate hotel so spent a lot of time around there, much of it stuck on the bus. The area around the Indra hotel has hardly changed much. If your other half ever suggests shopping for clothes around there- pretend to be ill!

Had a buffet meal at the Baiyoke skye tower 5 years ago paid 1400 baht , the meal was ordinary but the view at night was grand, last year went to Mahanakon the cost was 1200 baht But seniors (over 60 ) pay 250 , my mate was dirty on that one ,, sadly it was a smokey day but was worth it , next time will be at night time can't wait for that one… when i first went to pantip plaza was fully buzzing , i went there a few years ago it was like a ghost town ! nice vid… cheers

Great video as always Pat. Watched with pleasure. When I lived in Bangkok I used to come to this area quite often.
My husband and I got married at the Indra Regent hotel in 2012, but we actually stayed there for the first time in 1998. I was in Bangkok in February 2019 and went for a visit to Pratunam and it had changed a lot since 2012.
