One feature my wife is very concerned with is a timer to have the machine warmed up first thing in the AM. Besides the machines with that feature built-in, or ones with a very short warmup, or getting a new wife, is a solution to put a timer on the power receptacle and turn it on and off there?. Thanks

  2. Nigel Fletcher says:

Is this machine only for people with limited space in their kitchen? I really like the machine, but space is not an issue for me – should I be looking at bigger machines like the Profitec 500?

  3. PrinceBarin says:

Purchased a V Slim after considerable research. Main reasons for choosing were build quality, gorgeous looks, compact size and ability to steam and brew at the same time. Beyond happy with it. It looks stunning and is easy to operate (even for a novice like me and my wife who had no interest in making espresso before I bought it). It is also very consistent which I love, coming from a Sage Barista Pro which seemed never to make the same cup twice. 6 months ago I wouldn’t have dreamed of spending this much money on an espresso machine – since getting it, I haven’t thought twice.
Partnered it with the ECM grinder – it looks great, a little inconsistent with the size of the dose despite the timer but I wanted a one button operation grinder that would compliment the ECM. I wouldn’t change my choice if I had it again.

When I watch your videos I ALWAYS imagine this story in which I am one of the last men on earth and I find these videos on a rusty server buried in the ruins of google. I imagine that I am seeing them dressed in rags surrounded by a post-apocalyptic scene in which I fall asleep listening to Marc's voice and thinking about how people lived in the olden days.

2 questions: a) I bought the Mechanika and it came with a silicone tube that the manual says it is for "water filter", which I have no idea where it goes or what is it's purpose. Is it important? I didn't see it in your review. b) Often I prepare my Cappuccino directly into me paper (disposable) cups, I used to have a old Oscar Simonelli and I had no trouble pulling my shots directly into the paper cup, but wiyh the Mechanika there is no space for that. Is there any solution or idea how can I can keep pulling shots into paper cups? Tks!

  6. Craig Burton says:

Hi Marc, are the steam and water valve switches spring loaded like the Profitec Pro 500 etc? Thanks. I ive in New Zealand and I've really appreciated watching and learning from your reviews.

  7. pablo says:

"you get the big ugly one" LMAO.
btw Marc, do you think this machine not having a PID is a big step down?
I think this machine is better looking than the technika profi. But no PID.

Hello mark, im a new one to the culture and for now im enjoying my pour over coffee and pretty happy with the chemex, but i like milk drinks very much and im willing to invest no more than 1500$ in a good espresso “machine” and grinder. What do you recommend ? . Thank you 🙏🏻

I was just about settled on this machine for purchase when I heard about something called the ECM Mechanika Profi IV I think it's called. Do you think it's worthwhile getting the Profi? It's about an extra $400 or so here in Australia which is no big deal really. I don't think I need a dual boiler with PID just to make a few coffees for my wife and myself and the occasional visitor. .

  10. Ron Mortimer says:

After watching this review I decided this is the machine for me. Then I checked the price in Australia. It's around $3000.00. So now there's a tiny problem. My wife would kill me if I bought it. 🙂

  11. Alexandre Asselin says:

Every time I see a Rocket video I notice that the extraction has some bubbles in it and flows differently than an ECM… would you say it s the portafilter that makes a difference or the ECM pulls better shots ?

  12. Schmolinski says:

Hello bought this lovely thing today. Prepared everything as in the manual written. Water in the tank, plug in the socket and switch on… no thing happened. Not even after a couple of minutes. What did I wrong?

  13. elChupaKen says:

Thanks for your review guys – it helped me decide on getting a Mechanika V slim for my home and I'm almost a year with my machine with no regrets. What an amazing machine with a small footprint!

  14. MusicFromMoscow says:

A thousand thank yous for the review. Your video and your replies to comments and questions was instrumental in my deciding in favour of the ECM Mechanika V Slim as opposed to other comparable HX machines. I find that everything about it feels premium when compared to the Apartamento, the Pro 500, the Lelit Mara and others, although I am sure they are great machines too! :).

For all of you out there comparing options, I had a chance to find a store in my city that retails all four of the above mentioned. I spent a lot of time with each one, turning the valves, flipping switches, holding the portafilters (wow!, just wow), activating the brew lever, feeling the steam and hot water wands, manipulating the drip tray, etc. Everything about the ECM feels so much more substantial. Factor in the larger boiler made of SS, the engineering and repairability and I was even more convinced that this machine is for me. Mine even included a very decent tamper in the box.

I have one suggestion that I would like to share with all manufacturers of prosumer stuff like this…Since most include two portafilters, why not make one of them bottomless? That makes even more sense seeing at the spouts are screwed on…just include the single and double spouts and I can decide which one I leave on that portafilter. Thoughts?

    Anyway, WLL rocks!

  15. Satine says:

I've been debating ECM Mechanika Slim vs Rocket Appartamento… I've now reached my decision and it's the ECM based on the clean look of the internals. OMG that valve tree is a geek's dream. Looking at the connections, everything is shielded, the Pressure Stat with the Static Relay is a winner, also the gauges mounted high on the machine. So much ergo engineering and built-in safety features. Mechanika Slim WINS! After the holidays, I'm getting it from Whole Latte Love, not freaking Amazon or Ebay. #EspressoGoals. Love this channel!

  16. squibcakes74 says:

Nice review gents. When you say it has a 2.2L boiler does that mean it is always boiling that much water or is the tank more like 1L water and 1L steam? Just trying to get my head around boiling 2L of water to make a a single coffee every morning…😅
