    @popparoc46,
    That line especially cracked us up, because we'd picked it up last year and used it all during ST3. To have it come out of him a year later, totally out of nowhere, was just too much. To everyone else it was hilarious, but to us it was like a flashback. I really think the guy could be a standup comic. He has the spontaneity and the interaction to invent a routine on the fly. And to be able to cook, and cook well at the same time, for that much of a crowd!!! Amazing!

    @mysteryglo,
    This is one of the reasons it pays to come early. What really totalled us was that the phrase was a major part of a comedy show at the Mystery Dinner Theater last year. It had us in hysterics then, and for it to hit us out of nowhere this year, at the steakkhouse, just blew us away.

    We may be stuck with the phrase for the rest of our lives. LOL

    @kalacaw,
    You don't cook like this? With the flames and setting yourself on fire and throwing food in the air? How do you survive? Peanut butter?

    As you can see, this guy had us in stitches the whole time. You would've loved it!

    @mobiltec,
    It was a riot, Larry. I've been to Japanese steakhouses many times, and the layout is designed to be a combo of dinner and entertainment, but this guy was a master. I've never run across a chef who was this much of a nutcase.

  5. mobiltec says:

    Oh man that guy is hilarious…. What a neat way to have a great dinner! Dinner and a show right there. Love it. Going to see if we have anything like that around here. Thanks for sharing Moosie… Looks like a great time was had by all.

    @silverscreamgrl,
    Beth, I don't see how they do it. Watching the process several times in editing, I'm amazed at how he "appears" to be ignoring everything while he carries on playing with us, yet he's working with extremely precision timing. I commonly multitask by starting things at different times so they all finish the same. But to slam them all on a searing hot grill at once and keep track is way beyond my pay scale. The lobster was past the melt-in-the-mouth point by maybe 30 seconds.

  7. silverscreamgrl says:

    @anmoose I was totally wondering about the lobster and if it were overdone. One thing I totally admire is the fact that they do tend to know and watch SO many items and each have different cook times. Pretty darn awesome. Glad you enjoyed the place!

    @silverscreamgrl,
    He was good, Beth. Most of them I've seen follow a pretty much "stock" routine, but this guy was a nutcase, and he was all interactive, picking up on us individually, and adlibbing. He was a riot. And the food was excellent. The lobster was barely overdone, not enough to matter, and the rest was perfection. I'm not the biggest fan of the sauces they use, but I don't dislike them, either, and he didn't overdo them.

    That "we do video" really caught his attention. 🙂

    @rickbell7,
    He was a master, Rick! Glad you got the feel of it through the vid. He kept us in hysterics the whole time, and he'd cue on the slightest things we'd say or do, and build on them. He was sharp, and quick!

    And if adding 50% to the check is big enough, then yeah, I did. When I was signing it, all I could think was that he deserved some major appreciation. I've only gone that far MAYBE one other time, ever, and he was worth it.

  10. Anonymoose says:

    @twish1999,
    And we would've loved to have you there! The food was excellent. The lobster was just barely overcooked for my tastes, but not enough to complain about, and the shrimp and sea scallops were as perfect as it gets. It was yummy!

  11. Anonymoose says:

    @DearestBecky,
    Glad you liked it. I really think he could do stand up comedy, because he wasn't just putting on a show, he was interacting and picking cues from us, and it was all spontaneous. He had us all in stitches the whole time.

  12. Anonymoose says:

    @1DRock37167,
    A drunk Asian Emeril! I love it! He was a madman, yet at the same time he was an excellent chef. My plate was the killer, with the shrimp, sea scallops, and lobster, and you're right, a piece of slightly warm fillet would've been the topper. I bet I could have asked for it, too. Why weren't you there to coach me? Dangit!

  13. Rick Porter says:

    I can hardly stop laughing! This guy was definitely on his "A-Game". I hope you all gave him a big tip because that was a first class performance. I've never seen anything like that, but if more people enjoyed their jobs as much as this guy seems to, I think the world would be a lot more fun to live in!

    Great upload, Moosie. Sometimes your laugh made me laugh as much as what the cook was saying/doing. It was almost as if I was there with you guys.
    Cheers!
    Rick
