I think you should take Keio Line instead from Shinjuku Station to Takaosanguchi Station.. more simple & no transit needed..

The Keio Takaosan onsen is one of my absolute favorites and I'm so glad I stopped there before I left Takaosan!
Also, if you follow the path right at 33:50, you'll come to a pretty awesome Cafe that I'm 99% sure that I left my commemorative Takaosan chair lift photo at 😅 I'm still so mad at myself for leaving that behind!

Takao station could do with a coat of paint. Loved this video went to Mt Takao on my last trip before the pandemic. Don't know when I'll be back.

I lived near there and probably if we didn't have covid this month i had to go back there, cannot immagine how surprise i would be to see u in takao st… lol.. anyway there is a very nice starbucks few minutes walking from takao. U had just to walk straight leaving station behind u..

Had one of my most memorable lunches nearby at Ukai Toriyama, highly recommend after a morning Mt. Takao hike.

13:35 That looks like the same machine I encountered on a platform in Okachimachi Station a couple years ago. Decent iced coffee – nice for a hot August day.
Had a fantastic day trip from Tokyo to Takao-san in November 2019 and was lucky enough to get amazing views of Fuji-san on the climb. Can’t wait to go back!

Nice Scenery & After Tokyo Olympics Will You Be Going For Tokyo Paralympics Coming In Three Weeks Time?
There are no crowds guys because of the state of emergency. People are asked to stay home and reduce their movement. Clearly not all people are doing their part.
Ahhh the "Ping–pong" bell/noise played on loop every few seconds at the station brings back memories when waiting for the train when I was in Tokyo 2 years ago.
Should we be concerned?? He said at the end he may live-stream his return down the cable car. etc. Now around 12 hrs later nothing from him…… Is he still on the way up? Did he get lost? Did he fall asleep along the way? 🙂 Or did he just go home for lunch:)

My god. I love this vibe so much. Quiet Japanese town, early morning, extra points if it's countryside. That is just so beautiful to me, so peaceful. I am definitely going to experience that atmosphere atleast once in my lifetime.

Mt Takao, thank this brings back a number of fond memories – my first time there was in 1974.
There is a most wonderful restaurant up there, nestled along a mountain stream, called Ukai Toriyama (うかい鳥山). It is the most beautiful restaurant we have ever been to, where we had the best meal I ever remember having in the kaiseki style. Check it out, and perhaps someday you can take your lovely bride there and bring the rest of us along in a video.

You can aboard the direct Keio line from Shinjuku to Takaosanguchi station as well.
Climb this back in 2019 March.Despite the cold weather, I was sweating quite alot while climbing. HAd to remove my sweater which was quite weird considering that everyone was wearing cold protection gear and then there is me…
Also, I kept on changing the route when climbing. Before i know it, i was walking up something like a small river. I lost count the amount of times i lose my footing and fell. Also, do not drink the tap water up there despite a sign saying it is safe. Had a stomach ache within minutes.
So lovely and peaceful! Take care in this crazy humid Japanese summer heat!

We visited Mt Takao in 2018 and it was a beautiful experience. We caught the train from Shinjuku and it was very picturesque. Our first great experience was at the Information Office, they were so helpful. It was starting to rain, so they lent us two umbrellas, which came very handy. The temples and shrines were amazing and we had lunch at at a restaurant near the cable car station. And yes, we did catch the cable car there and back. On the way back in the cable car this group of old men started talking to us. It was funny because they didn’t speak English and my knowledge of Japanese can fit in the back of a postage stamp, but somehow to understand each other and I inflicted my very poor Japanese on them (sumimasen, nihongo-ga skoshi wakarimasu). The view from the restaurant was fantastic!
