Question… I ordered a jiggler weight with the rings as shown in your video, but it would not fit on my Sears Maid of Honor canner. I returned it and ordered the replacement part for the original jiggler. I tested it today, and it appears to be a 15 lb. weight. I usually pressure can at 11 lbs. of pressure for my altitude. Will the original weight not work for me since it is for 15 lbs.?

Hi. My air vent/cover lock is spitting out way more air that it usually does. Checked everything seems to be fine. Canning meat today was able to keep it at the right PSI. Will this ruin my canned meat. Why do you think it is doing this?
One thing not only is presto gets the job done.. but the lids gaskets etc between the 16 and the 24 sizes are compatible.. least I have found it has the exact same diameter. not sure all American can say the same? Don't own one but the dimensions seem different ..lest on vids I have seen.. to be honest
Came in handy when I was doing a meat haul canning session and ended up with a lot more jars that would fit in the smaller unit.. was able to pull out the taller unit. transfer the warm water ..ensured correct level of course.. and use the cleaned and inspected canner lid.. awaiting.. and go.. not sure you can do that with. All American?

THANK YOU ! THANK YOU ! THANK YOU ! Why doesn’t PRESTO announce on the box or in the description that it can not go on burner over 12,000 BTU ‘s. I actually bought one today and was going to pick it up tomorrow . THEN , I watched this. I have a professional stove and so I had to go dig out the manual and saw that my burners are over 15,000 BTU’s ! I was so sad to cancel my order. BUT so glad that I did !

Would you be able to measure the weight on the jiggler for me?
I can't get one of those where I live, so I'll have to improvise. But I need to know the weight on the jiggler with the 5, 10 and 15 pressure settings. A precise kitchen scale in ounces or grams would be fine for that. Thank you.

You say to put the regulator on first, then heat until it rocks. Don’t want to throw stereotypes out there, but every “granny” I’ve known to do canning says the opposite. You need to purge any trapped air or “cool spots” first. You do this by allowing a steady stream of steam to flow through the vent tube for 5-10 minutes. Then add the weight and adjust accordingly. Am I wrong? Maybe because we’re in Maryland and it’s an altitude thing?
My altitude is very close to 1000 feet so I always pressure cook at 15 lbs instead of 10. I just started using my All American (2nd week of using it) & I noticed it was leaking due to the lid being uneven as i was canning green beans tonight. I let it keep going since the gauge was still moving up. It took about twice as long for the weight to finally start jiggling and just barely. It was a very faint, subtle jiggle off and on (not a pronounced jiggle like I am used to) and it jiggled harder from time to time but less than once per minute. The gauge was at 14 but I thought I saw somewhere that you should trust the weight more than the gauge. The jars started pinging shortly after bringing them out and there was no siphoning. Should I be worried if these are safe to eat?
I'm also a three inch believer. It's already in the "marked" area of my 23 qt. canner in hard water black. hahaha♥

I know it is not a good thing to run your canner dry. However, that happened to me yesterday. I believe it happened at the very end because it was still spitting out some steam pretty much to the end. I was using the regulator that came with my Presto. My question is this, is my product I was canning (vegetable soup) safe to store and eat? I now have a 3 weight gauge and practiced with it this morning so I will be using that going forward.
Anyone explain how to get 10 pint jars in a 16qt presto? I’m only getting 8? Using Kerr wide mouths.
How do you know if the lid sealed?
I warped my first 16 qt canner. They can fix it but you have to send it in at your own expense. I decided to get the 23 qt instead and not do what they said was the cause of it (glass top burner much too large for the contact surface of the canner bottom)
