You were funny in that other video when you asked people if they would ever stay at the Cecil. What's ironic is I would be OK staying at the Cecil for a couple nights, but I don't think I could ever live across the street, lol. (I've lived in Hollywood and that was sometimes freaky enough.) 😜

About this video: Hmm… really? In Portland, we have a LOT of those housing units. I used to volunteer going place to place and visiting with the tenants on the list (that signed up for visitors). Our organization alone dealt with at least 10 buildings in one area of downtown.

About the Cecil, IMO, this new idea might work, but I don't know… it still leaves suicide too easy for those low income individuals who are not in a good place. Time will tell I suppose. I'm not holding my breath but hopefully it won't be as bad anymore.

Pete, you’d think the owner would be happy that he’s gotten free advertising for his hotel. What a nasty individual. I think what ever this place will be they’ll always be evil portals in this place. I’m so sorry you were threatened by that security guard. He had a problem. Happy Belated New Year to yourself and your family. Look after yourself, you are such an amazing person, and your wonderful personality comes through your videos. âĪâ™ĨâĪ

  5. Caitlyn Shannon says:

The interesting thing about adaptive reuse is that, specifically for the parts of the building from an earlier era that they're keeping the aesthetic of, since it is a historical landmark–the developers/property managers are not allowed to use materials that aren't the same as what was originally used for upkeep and repair purposes. I work for a property management company, and we own a building in the historic district of Sacramento, CA. Because this area of town dates back to the California Gold Rush, with the newest part of it having been rebuilt in the 1920s due to flooding, we have to find very specific types of brick and other materials that aren't what we would use in more modern buildings, in order to repair the facade. It ends up being more expensive to do that, so I'm surprised they're using a historical landmark like the Cecil for low-income housing.
