I ate at this same restaurant 10+ years ago and Aminah(the mom) sat with me and talked with me about life and then would not accept any payment from me. I came back the next day to give her a gift and she fed me again and again, refused payment. This family is the sweetest family in the world and I look forward to visiting them with my own children ❤

It touches my heart seeing how you go to the places that need business and you order one of everything. I am overwhelmed seeing you helping so many different people in your travels. I know that Covid has hit these people so hard, and I know that you going from place to place helps them to be able to survive during such difficult times. We love that about you. Yes the food looks so delicious, too. Your humility inspires me. The food always helps to give us ideas for what to eat at home. Your appreciation for the simple things helps us to appreciate the things that we normal take for granted that much more. I love the people that you meet. My husband and I wish that we could go to some of the places. That food looks incredible.
I was in this beautiful town of Mae Sai 11 years ago when I first starter my North Thailand journey . Love the vibe and environment of this town. Wish can go back there sometime soon after this pandemic get better. Thanks Joel for this wonderful video. Really bring back the memories 🙂

I first noticed you in some of those great Mark Wiens videos and I thought ‘who is this really sweet and respectful guy who is backing him up’? Now I’ve discovered your channel and see you are quite the superstar in your own right. What is so enchanting about your videos is how you and Li form this interpersonal connection with anyone you meet, turning a restaurant owner into an Auntie or Mom and showering them with praise and respect. I can only imagine how meaningful it must be for them to have someone place a global spotlight on their life’s work and on their professional cooking skills. I’m sure you were spreading your charms and shinning your sunshine to such people long before you had a channel, but it’s nice now to share in the experience.
