it maybe girl-friendly but it does not mean its safe. for example i stayed in Sunshine Hotel in Soi 8 n yes its girl-friendly and the receptionists always make a point to keep the girl's identity card and when the girl is leaving the receptionist call me and ask if everything is ok before they return the identity card to the girl.

Such a good price in a fantastic city.
I stayed at the China Garden which is in the next soi for 700 baht a night, it is more expensive but the bed is as good as the one I have at home, the bed in your room looks like it has the standard cheap charile mattress that cheap guesthouse owners buy which is ok for one night but not something you want to sleep on for 1 or 2 months.
nice room,,,looks great ,and cheap but can u sleep at night,,the bloody music from the street must be terrible,,,well is it???????? thank you for the post,,, my wife and i love going around and see diffrent countrys,,,but sorry to hear thailand not safe,,and its a rip off,,,people say so many diffrent things about the country ,i dont know whats right or wrong,,we want to enjoy out holidays ,not to get murdered…surely u must know what i mean

If you're on a total budget? There's a place on Soi Bokoaw called Emery house apartments just past Oasis a-go-go, keep Oasis on your left and it's about 60 meters past on the opposite side approx $10 a night longer term, but it's not very clean and the 1st floor rooms are better than downstairs. It's low season now so shop about to get the best deal, Xmas time is the only time when rooms are scarce. Alternatively you can try Angeles in the Philippines?

Hi Dave, it is called "the rock" guesthouse.
Thanks Andrew. I believe the name of the guesthouse is "the rock". I will try to get more details and put them in the comments in a couple of weeks time. There is no reception area just an entrance downstairs that you open with a keycard, so the answer is yes to your last question.
Onani and all, I should mention as of a month ago, Google Street View now covers ALL of Pattaya, and it's GREAT. Dont bother with PPG.
