I think service charge is the strangest, cheekiest thing. That's their job – what else are you going to do, collect it from the kitchen yourself?
Basically if the food is not up to scratch I won’t tip so I think you were right not paying the service charge. Also I can’t believe that other charge, “rip off”. I also noticed one of the girls was watching you like a hawk.
She didn’t seem happy 😃 you don’t see a can in a restaurant I agree will he check the knives 🔪 dust on the table 😂 presentation wasn’t good plates weren’t nice
Your just around the corner from me you should of bought Geoff carter mate
I see after doing a brief Internet search that spare ribs are available in a variety of meats, you say you find pork spare ribs lack meat, perhaps try other varieties of spare ribs?
Order anything coated from a Chinese in batter… You don't honestly think its prepared fresh 🙄🤦♂️🤣
Go MISATO next time mate cheap tasty authentic Japanese dishes with decent staff.
That food looks amazinggggg!! I'm goin there in 2weeks. Enjoy your food guy's 😋
8.
I think asking them to remove the service charge is perfectly fine Lee, after all personally I think it’s a bit cheeky more so when the cola was served warm and Darren had to pour it himself, yes they have to make money back, but don’t we all? Anyway fabulous video loved the shirt.
😊
Golden Phoenix is one of the best in china town I reckon 👍
You were right in removing the service charge. The food looked average at best.
Sorry Sir but Chinatown is not what it used to be….
Massive rents so they are catering for tourists etc
The better places have closed or moved on
The Four Seasons on Gerrard Street does the best Duck to be fair.
That looked shit, best Chinese restaurant is in Manchester Chinatown, Happy Season’s. I don’t pay service charge neither.
I used to go to Chinatown and eat there all the time, but since the pandemic started I haven't been back and won't be back again, I am boycotting Chinese goods and services
Definitely try the one next to Imperial called Joy King Lau. Superb food, (dim sum mainly) but their service is very good and the food to die for! Reasonable prices. 4 of us ate there for £70 incl svc charge (which was purely discretionary)
I dont get how the food was "beautiful" at the table but than massively disappointing once you got outside. As someone whos been here twice I can say Id never go again. Its utter over priced crap. My local chjese takeaway is a million times nicer than Imperial. Tbh anyone who jnows food can clearly see the food, apart from the noodles, looked absolutely awful. Those ribs looked dry and old, and the chicken looked like deep fried crap.
The fact you left a tip is fine , did you mention about the batter and chewy chicken
100% right to remove the service charge!
Nah like most Chinese restaurant’s it left me underwhelmed seems like the place had no atmosphere the food looked less than appetising, and I bet within an hour you was hungry again 🤣😂
Standard take away tackle that
OOOPS Doubled dipped
nothing special, this restaurant
Best Chinese restaurant in the world, is in Credenhill Herefordshire. Home for the SAS.
Yes u are right
They need to do a Yorkshire fusion menu and get some gravy on those dry ribs! (Noodles looked good though).
That looked very disappointing but China town is a tourist hot spot 😏
hi my friend habve you ever been to china sity in manchester ? my mate went there and there are many chineese resturants so we asked the locals asians which is the best for lunch they pointed out the best it was brill a great meal at a good price they were so friendley give it a try when you can it is near to piccadily
Went to an Indian restaurant near Gloucester Road, London where they added a 15% service charge to the bill automatically and the waiter said, as he handed me the bill said "service not included, 20% is suggested" When I queried the 15% already added he said "we don't get that". I told him I'm not paying a 2 tips and I'm certainly not paying 35%
Sometimes the service charge goes entirely to the owner, the place I worked at forced waiters to lie by saying "it's shared amongst staff". This is best explained by this formula
(Service charge + Employers contribution = My pay rate of £8.50/hr)
High service charge means my employer pays less. Low service charge means my employer pays more.
This was entirely legal, although the lies could be considered as fraud.
Outstanding
it all started well, & then went downhill to the bill…oh I hate those sneaky charges
Haven't eaten in a chinese place for 30 years….and for very good reasons.
