Every USN ship should have a few dozen such missiles in deck mounted launchers and the ability to target many targets simultaneously.
It also would not hurt to be able to engage air targets like drones and hellicopters, like the hellfire can. I do not know if griffin has that capability.

The Navy has no weapon that can effectively prevent a small boat swarm attack. The radar guided guns are barely effective in calm seas against single targets. Fifty plus small boats closing while firing heavy machine guns and rpgs will swamp the ships defenses. A small fast moving bobbing boat from a pitching deck is very hard to hit. A ship s far easier. An RPG can easily penetrate the sides of most modern warships. Then the grappling hooks start coming over the side followed by infantry that will gain control of the top deck. From there they use C4 to blow hatches. Tear gas and grenades will be used to take deck after deck until the Captain surrenders his command. Navy crews have no idea how defend against boarders on such a scale.
The Captain will be held to rules of engagement that will not allow him to engage until the boat swarm is so close as to make his long range weapons ineffective. In addition, he will most likely be required to have permission from higher command to engage which will take far too long given the speed of the attack.
The US Navy is underestimating the low tech capabilities of the Iranians in scenarios where the Iranians choose the place, composition of forces and timing of their attack.
Iran will have the ship and its hostage crew safely back at their base threatening to kill the crew if the US retaliates long before a coherent response can be organized and approved by higher command.
Iran dose not really need this boats to shut down the straights all the larger ships must go though on the Iranian side. They can be optionally range and hire from the mountains on the coast 💁🏿♂️. Shot and scoot.
